Rules of Climb

The Rules of Climb must be displayed prominently in the arena briefing zone and on the Climb Up website. They are also incorporated by reference into the Participant Waiver and Terms & Conditions.

  1. Complete your waiver. All climbers must have a signed digital waiver before entering the arena. Under 18s require a parent or guardian to sign on their behalf. No waiver, no climb.
  2. Attend the full safety briefing. All climbers must complete the safety briefing before entering the arena. No exceptions.
  3. Dress appropriately. Wear close-fitting clothing and closed-toe shoes. Sandals, flip flops, open-toe shoes, high heels and bare feet are not permitted in the arena. Remove watches, jewellery, scarves and anything from your pockets before climbing. We recommend tying back long hair for your comfort and safety.
  4. Weight requirements. For safety reasons the Tru blue auto-belay system has a minimum weight requirement of 10kg and a maximum weight limit of 150kg. These limits apply to all participants without exception. If you are unsure whether a participant meets these requirements, please speak to a member of staff before your session.
  5. Listen to your instructor. Our team are here to keep you safe. Always follow their instructions
  6. Always clip in! You must clip in to the Belay Mate connector before every climb. Check your clip. Check it again. Never climb without being clipped in.
  7. Don’t unclip until you are back on the ground. Always wait until you have completed your descent and are standing securely on the ground before unclipping from the Belay Mate connector.
  8. One climber per line. Only one person may climb each line at a time. Wait your turn.
  9. Check below before descending. Always look down and check the area is clear before letting go and descending.
  10. No unclipping others. Never touch or unclip another climber’s Belay Mate connector.
  11. No climbing the barriers or perimeter fencing. Stay within the designated climbing zones at all times.
  12. No running or playing beneath the walls. Keep the arena floor clear at all times. Running or rough play in the climbing zone puts you and other climbers at risk.
  13. No food or drink in the arena. Food, drink and chewing gum are not permitted in the climbing zone.
  14. No phones on the walls.  Do not use your phone while climbing. Keep phones in your pocket or leave them with a friend.
  15. Report any concerns immediately. If you notice any damage to equipment or feel unsafe at any time, stop climbing and inform a member of staff immediately.
  16. Do not climb if unwell. Do not climb if you are feeling unwell, dizzy, or have consumed alcohol or drugs. Our staff may refuse entry if they have concerns about a climber’s fitness to climb.
  17. Pregnancy. We recommend that pregnant climbers do not participate. Please speak to a member of staff before your session if you have any concerns.
  18. Medical conditions. If you have a medical condition that may affect your ability to climb safely, please speak to a member of staff before your session. You may be asked to seek medical advice before participating.
